Dee, so where do the poor unfortunate have nots living below poverty line go for help to get their basics to survive??. In other countries the mega rich help the needy with millions of $$ given to help the poor needy survive directly or indirectly. Billionaires have compassion for the less fortunate, cause by the grace of the Lord they are not in the position of the poor. Wake up, you seem to be living the high life, time to take a step into their shoes and walk their walk.

Are we to be proud of our heritage as the only nation that provides free public service and welfare such as free education up to University level, free lunch, free books and free uniform, comprehensive Health Services etc, that involve employment to thousands of educated men and women. Can we afford these services even now?

@Dee, well said. Good to see there are some people left in Sri Lanka with some common sense. The sad fact is Sam Silva line of thought is common among many. Our subsidy/sahanaya ideology and that private enterprises are evil, I think gives a good indicator that SL will not recover or change its inefficient and debt-ridden ways.
