<p>Two people were killed and eight others injured following an accident involving a truck and a tractor at Walekade Junction in Polonnaruwa this evening.</p> <p>Police said at least 10 people were travelling in the tractor when it collided with the truck.</p> <p>Two women who were travelling in the tractor died in the accident.</p><center><a href="https://www.hi.lk/himag" target="_blank"><img src="https://bmkltsly13vb.compat.objectstorage.ap-singapore-1.oraclecloud.com/cdn.sg.dailymirror.lk/assets/uploads/advr_7fec3b236e.jpg" /></a></p></center> <p>Meanwhile, at least 15 persons were injured when a cab and van collided on the Ratnapura- Embilipitiya main road at the 98th mile post.</p> <p>Police said the cab was taking a u-turn on the road when the van travelling towards Embilipitiya crashed on to the cab and toppled.</p> <p>A motorcycle too crashed against the van.</p> <p>Police said the motorcyclist and 14 others in the van were admitted to the Embilipitiya Hospital.</p> <p>The driver of the cab had fled the scene following the accident and investigations are under way to apprehend him.</p></p>
