Japan, India and France to announce launch of Sri Lanka’s debt restructuring negotiation process

Japan, India and France will announce the launch of the debt restructuring negotiation process on Sri Lanka today, in the margins of the Spring Meetings, the International Monetary Fund statement said.


The three creditor countries, which have been closely working towards a coordinated debt restructuring for Sri Lanka, are expected to announce the launch at a media briefing in Washington.

President Ranil Wickremesinghe will take part in the press briefing virtually while Finance State Minister Shehan Semasinghe, who is attending Spring Meetings in Washington DC, will take part in person.


Japanese Finance Minister Shunichi Suzuki, Japanese Vice Minister Finance Masato Kanda, Indian Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and France’s Treasury Director General Emmanuel Moulin will be representing the three creditor nations.

 



It is a body comprising companies such as Amazon, Apple, Booking.com, Expedia Group, Google, GoTo, Grab, LINE, LinkedIn, Meta, Rakuten, X and Yahoo.
