STEAM education programme launched in SL

  • No child will drop out of school when this system is implemented

STEAM education system from which school children will be  able to learn concepts and fundamentals of subjects in a simple manner  was launched in the schools yesterday. 

 
“STEAM education will be used in Science, Technology,  Engineering, Maths and Art subjects,” the Education Minister Susil  Premajayantha said. 

 
Minister who was speaking at the launch of STEAM education  system in Royal College said this system exists in more than 96  countries.

 “The system which was introduced by US National Science  Foundation in 1999 is now used in teaching art subjects too. This system  has become popular in the globe today as Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics,” the minister said.   


“No child will drop out of school when this system is implemented in Sri Lanka,” he added.   


“While highlighting that children in countries such as  Singapore are being taught using the latest techniques where science  centres are used, the Minister said Sri Lanka will also have such  centres before long.   
He said local school children will be able to learn from Sri Lankan experts living abroad through the STEAM system.          

 



It is a body comprising companies such as Amazon, Apple, Booking.com, Expedia Group, Google, GoTo, Grab, LINE, LinkedIn, Meta, Rakuten, X and Yahoo.
