Former Attorney General Dappula de Livera has been informed to appear before the Terrorism Investigation Division (TID) today to record a statement he had made over the 2019 Easter Sunday bomb attacks.  

Police said he was informed to appear before the TID to record a statement regarding his controversial statement of a coup behind the Easter Sunday attacks.  

Meanwhile, Justice Minister Dr. Wijeyadasa Rajapakshe also said at a Cabinet briefing that he has informed the Attorney General to record a statement from Dappula de Livera over his statement on the Easter Sunday terror attacks.  

In May 2021, a few days before the end of his tenure as the AG, Dappula de Livera said that he is unable to present indictments against the conspirators and abettors of the 2019 Easter Sunday terror attacks within his tenure, as the Criminal Investigation Department’s probes are incomplete.  

Speaking to the media, the Justice Minister said that Dappula de Livera as the Attorney General at the time should have summoned the Police and ordered them to conduct further investigations if the level of inquiry had been insufficient.
