Bohra community gets new campus

The opening ceremony of the Aljamea-tus-Saifiyah Arabic Academy complex was followed in Colombo by the Indian High Commissioner, HE Mr. Gopal Bagley, along with Bohra Community leaders, at the auditorium of the Dawoodi Bohra Mosque - Husaini Masjid

 

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently (10th February) inaugurated the new campus of Aljamea-tus-Saifiyah Arabic Academy known otherwise as Jamea. Located in the hills of Marol, Mumbai, it is a multi-structure complex covering 850,000 sq ft, and can accommodate 700 students and 100 faculties. The head of the Dawoodi Bohra community, His Holiness Syedna Mufaddal Saifuddin welcomed the Prime Minister Modi at the complex in Mumbai.


The opening ceremony was watched in Colombo by the Indian High Commissioner, HE Mr. Gopal Bagley, along with Borah Community leaders, at the auditorium of the Dawoodi Bohra Mosque - Husaini Masjid.


The Academy is the principal educational institute of the Dawoodi Bohra community and has been functioning from its campus in Surat, Gujarat for over two centuries. Allied campuses have been opened in Karachi (1983) and Nairobi (2011). There are over 3000 students across all Jamea campuses.



It is a body comprising companies such as Amazon, Apple, Booking.com, Expedia Group, Google, GoTo, Grab, LINE, LinkedIn, Meta, Rakuten, X and Yahoo.
