In a bid to boost the tourism industry in Jaffna, the foundation stone was laid for Hotel Nallur in Jaffna. The three star hotel, being the first of its kind in the war torn province after a lapse of 60 years, is being constructed by the Merchant Bank of Sri Lanka.
